Women talking and laughing together around a table

A safe space where everyone belongs

Mind & Mend

Wellbeing retreats where young people step away from stress and reconnect, with talks from mental health professionals, support circles, games and creativity.

It is okay not to be okay

Young people in our region carry a lot: displacement, loss, exams, unemployment, family pressure. Too often they carry it alone, because talking about mental health still feels taboo. Mind & Mend exists to change that.

The retreat

Mind & Mend is a one-day retreat open to everyone. It mixes honest conversation with joy:

  • Talks from psychiatrists and mental health professionals
  • Support circles, where it is safe to share and to listen
  • Group games, entertainment, sip and paint, and a FIFA tournament
  • Food, laughter and new friends

The second edition, Mind & Mend 2.0, took place in June 2026 in Bamenda with the University of Bamenda Medical Students' Association (UBaMSA), Skye8, GirlFORCE, UBaMELSA and CATUC-MSA.

Help us host the next one

We welcome financial, in-kind and technical support for future retreats, from venues and refreshments to art supplies and professional volunteers.

If you are struggling right now, please talk to someone you trust, and check on your friends. Asking for help is a sign of strength.
